According to NFHS-4, there were 30.5% men (age 15-49 years) in India who tried to stop smoking or using tobacco in any other form (during the past 12 months) in 2015-16. According to NFHS-4, there were men (age 15-49 years) who tried to stop smoking or using tobacco in any other form (during the past 12 months) in 2015-16 in Rural and Urban part of India were 31% and 29.4% respectively.
According to NFHS-4, the top 5 States/UTs in terms of having highest percentage of men (age 15-49 years) who tried to stop smoking or using tobacco in any other form (during the past 12 months) in 2015-16 were Nagaland, Mizoram, Gujarat, Himachal Pradesh and Uttar Pradesh. According to NFHS-4, Nagaland, Mizoram, Gujarat, Himachal Pradesh and Uttar Pradesh had 41.8%, 41.5%, 40.4%, 40% and 38.7% respectively men (age 15-49 years) who tried to stop smoking or using tobacco in any other form (during the past 12 months) in 2015-16.
According to NFHS-4, the bottom 3 States/UTs in terms of having lowest percentage of men (age 15-49 years) who tried to stop smoking or using tobacco in any other form (during the past 12 months) in 2015-16 were Goa with 6.6%, Tripura with 10.7% and Puducherry with 11.8%.
According to NFHS-4, Telangana had highest with 44% and Puducherry had lowest with 7.7% men (age 15-49 years) who tried to stop smoking or using tobacco in any other form (during the past 12 months) in 2015-16 in Rural part of India. According to NFHS-4, Nagaland had highest with 47.3% and Goa had lowest with 5.1% men (age 15-49 years) who tried to stop smoking or using tobacco in any other form (during the past 12 months) in 2015-16 in Urban part of India.
